The beds are comfortable the equipment and welcome package is perfect for arriving guests need. The secure dog safe garden makes holidaying with the pups stress free. The Cottage is perfectly placed for a short stroll to pretty much everything in Watchet which is all dog friendly and is the most relaxed, stress free place I’ve ever been to in the UK. Beautiful garden at the rear with plenty of seating, there was just me and my husband, but very safe and secluded for children and dogs. There is a drive at the front, we have a Jaguar X Type, there was ample room to park. The cottage was spotless, everything thought of to ensure a comfortable stay. It is a couple of minutes walk into the town centre where there are numerous pubs serving lovely food and lots of quirky shops. The communication with Tim before, during and after our stay was excellent. I cannot praise this property highly enough and was very sad to leave. Thank you Tim and Lisa. read less - 5/19/2022

Excellent location with sea views from the lounge and master bedroom. Powerful shower in both bathrooms and spacious bedrooms. The cottage itself is supplied with everything you could possibly need including a BBQ for the nice size south facing garden.
Tim was super helpful and very responsive both before and during our stay which made us feel very welcome. Already looking forward to our return visit. read less - 8/24/2021

Not everything is open in the village and there are restrictions, re the pubs, but this did not detract from a wonderful week. Smashing location. The cottage is spacious enough that with 6 people you didn't feel on top of each other. Having two showers was ideal. The kitchen is a good size and has all the equipment you could need to make a meal. I didn't get a chance to use the garden as it was the middle of winter but it looked nice to sit out in and have a BBQ. Watchet is a great little village with a couple of pubs that do good food, a great tavern (Pebbles) that serves a great selection of ciders with a good collection of games to play. I was lucky enough to catch a steam train before the line closed for the winter period. If you ever wish to visit Watchet, Greengates is an amazing place to stay to explore the area. read less - 1/03/2020

The accommodation makes you wish for nothing... Thoughtfully put together to a really high standard. I loved the shower in the big bathroom with the waterfall shower and just wish that I had time to go for a sleep in the roll-top bath.

Lovely garden which will be amazing in the sunshine.

TV has a Google chrome cast so you can play your Netflix etc. Good WiFi too.

Thoroughly recommend this lovely dog friendly cottage as Watchet and the surrounding areas is very dog friendly.
Make sure you visit the steam train and the fossil beach!

We booked Greengates for May half term and had a superb week in Watchet. The property has been beautifully renovated throughout but retains a cosy character. The Bedrooms are a good size with comfortable beds and good showers. The kitchen and dining room were big enough to cook meals for our extended family. It was also great to have a garden and good quality internet. The town itself is right on the doorstep with the beach, harbour, pubs and shops, we particularly enjoyed visiting Pebbles bar. During the week we explored the Quatocks on mountain bikes, visited the zoo and Minehead beach, sampled lots of local beers and ciders and went on the lovely steam railway. I've already booked another trip to the cottage with friends later this year. I don't think you would find a better holiday rental in Watchet, highly recommended! read less - 8/28/2019

The furniture and decor is height quality and the beds and pillows wonderfully comfortable. The Cottage is a short stroll from pretty much everything in Watchet with the wonderful pebbles tavern top of the list of places to go and spend an evening (if you’ve seen Fisherman’s Friends then done miss the shanty night)
I can’t begin to describe how relaxed Watchet is, it’s peaceful and lovely and EVERYTHING is dog friendly even the museums and galleries allow dogs as well as the cafes and shops.
We made some lovely local friends in the short time we were there.
We had been home less than 2 hours and I’ve booked our next trip to Greengates already and got first refusal on a week later in the year for trip number 3. You don’t have to have dogs to go to a Greengates, but if you do then you definitely should read less - 8/25/2019

We visited several lovely towns in the area taking in a pub lunch on the way. Recommend Dunster & it's castle. The house itself was home from home, couldn't fault a thing. Well equipped kitchen, cosy lounge with open fire, modern bathrooms & comfy beds. The fully enclosed garden is a delight. There is a dog friendly beach literally across he road. Only a couple of things would have made our stay better- a larger freezer as the small freezer in the utility room wasn't very big.
Also we were 2 couples on holiday so parking was a bit of an issue as there is only parking for one car. On street parking was very limited but there is ample space in the pay and display carparks in the village.
Would recommend a visit to the Spice Merchant in the village- the curry was very good. Good walk to Minehead (about 9 miles) then returned to Watchet on the steam train. All in all we had a great time and of course the good weather was an added bonus. read less - 7/08/2019

The secure pretty garden was an added bonus with the dog.
Watchet is lovely, spoilt for choice eating wise and we enjoyed the Sea Shanty evening with the locals in Pebbles Tavern.
We loved Exmoor and Tarr Steps are well worth a visit as is Dunster Village.

We did go to Minehead, Dunster and the water mill. Our 2 dogs loved running free on the different beaches, including the local Watchet beach a stones throw from the cottage. We appreciated the log fire, which added to the cosy cottage feel. Comfy bed, fabulous showers, well equipped kitchen and a tasteful renovation. Greengates is well furnished and equipped with all home comforts. Located opposite the beach, within a short walk of the harbour and village, with all local amenities. The cottage has parking for one car, and a totally enclosed garden making it very dog friendly. Award winning Blue Anchor beach is a short drive away, and the steam railway is within easy walking distance.
Exmoor is not too far and offers lovely walks and breathtaking views.

We (My wife and I, Son and Daughter-In-Law, Grandaughter, Other Son and our two Labradors) have just had a great week there and in Watchet generally. The cottage is ideally located for the town and is just across the road from the town beach. We found Greengates to be a very spacious but also a cosy place to stay in. Although blessed with the weather and we were out most of the time, the cottage is ideal for those not too nice days when you wouldn't be able to go out and would appreciate the standard of comfort and amenities it has to offer. Greengates would also be ideal for breaks throughout the year as it has an open fire and is also fully central heated. It’s ideally suited to a large family with the 3 bedrooms, but despite all the space the house still felt very cozy and intimate for just my husband & me. We loved the welcome biscuits! Thank you! Tim & Lisa are a wonderful, gracious couple and we felt like we were staying in their own home rather than just another property rented just for visitors. Such is the attention to detail with every possible basic need being provided for. If you need groceries when you arrive, the local Co-op has all the basics, is more than ample for supplies and is just a 5-minute walk down the street. In fact, you can get to everything in the heart of Watchet – the pharmacy, shops and pubs, with a slow stroll in a few minutes. The benefit of an ideal location is what this cottage offers. The entrance is actually situated in a lane just off the main road (the driveway is on West Street) and so cars aren’t whizzing by your front door constantly. And yet you’re 2 blocks from the heart of town so you’ve got your peace and privacy too than being smack in the center of noise, activity and the touristy crowds. It’s so pleasant to wake up in the morning and open your curtains to the sea view in the front and the garden at the back! This is the nicest haven in Watchet to escape and unwind. It is super relaxing! My husband especially loved the large comfy sofas in the living room where he’d sit every morning with coffee in hand to watch the morning news and any action going on along the main road the beach access drive. Their housekeeper, Michelle is a gem and does a great job of having everything spic and span! If you have any questions or need help during your stay, you can call her and she’ll come to assist as quick as a wink! The whole cottage exudes warmth with wood floors upstairs and wood used throughout in the furniture and décor. We especially loved that hot water came on within seconds of opening the taps so there was no waiting and wasting of water. A truly lovely, memorable stay! The weather during the week we stayed was nothing to write home about so we spent a lot of time relaxing in the cottage, cooking in the well appointed kitchen, looking at the sea, reading, playing board games and the Xbox, and watching movies. We really didn't mind staying in. One of the major appeals is the proximity to the beach, which is literally opposite the cottage, and all the other amenities in Watchet are within a short walk. I highly recommend staying here. The owner was so helpful in all communication leading up to our stay, and there was a very thoughtful thank you card popped through the door by the housekeeper before our departure. It's a great property for families as Watchet Harbour and village is less than 5 minutes walk away. It's right near Watchet train station where the West Somerset Railway runs. You can catch a ride on one of the historic steam trains during your stay. Minehead seafront is just 10 miles away along the coast. If you enjoy a walk there are plenty in the area. We particularly enjoyed a walk through the harbour, along the railway and over to Fossil beach. The children spent hours searching for fossils and those 'special stones'. Watchet itself has some very quirky shops and a vist to Pebbles Tavern is a must. The cottage interior is beautifully done. It's spotlessly clean and the owners have thought about every little detail! It's spacious and even has 3 toilets!!!!! There are games, DVD's and books for you as well as great cooking facilities. No more trying to cut up your veggies with with a blunt knife! We were so pleased to see a welcome tray after our long journey and an added touch of a chalk board welcoming us to the cottage. It felt like home from home. It was a fantastic place to kick back, relax and have some quality family time. I would highly recommend this property to others.
